Looking to take an active role in your community? Want to save costs and support the environment? Concerned about the climate? Get trained and certified in sustainability best-practices through Walking Mountains Science Center’s Actively Green Sustainable Business program!
The Actively Green Program and trainings will inform you and your colleagues of how incorporating sustainability can help with employee satisfaction and retention, efficient resource use and environmental protection, and your business’s bottom line. The program was developed with partner nonprofit Sustainable Travel International and any type of business can participate.
New businesses can check out one of our focused workshops on a variety of sustainability in business topics. To begin the Actively Green certification process, businesses can attend an introductory training in which they learn what goes into a sustainability management system and create their own sustainability action plan. After the introductory training each business receives one-on-one coaching to assist them with Actively Green bronze, silver, or gold certification.
The Actively Green program includes a cloud-based sustainability management system database, training for additional employees, assistance with establishing a “green team”, invitations to free education and networking sessions, and the annual Actively Green awards party in November. Certified businesses also receive a marketing toolkit and are recognized online and in seasonal newspaper advertising campaigns.
Space is limited to 30 people per session. For more information and to register for each type of session, visit www.walkingmountains.org/ag.
Registration Information: Register for every type of training at www.walkingmountains.org/ag. VVP members can sign up employees free of charge for the trainings by indicating their membership status in the registration form. Please note your VVP membership will be verified.

Vail Valley Partnership is participating in a new program with SWiTCH Energy Advisers to help eligible member businesses reduce their natural gas bill – The SWiTCHAdvantage Program.
Did you know? Federal Energy Regulation Commission (FERC) Order No. 486 deregulated the natural gas industry and allows you to choose who supplies your natural gas to your public utility AND the rate you pay on your utility bill. Most companies look at Natural Gas as a fixed cost. Due to the Deregulation of Natural Gas in several states, including Colorado, a competitive market has recently emerged. This competition has driven down the price of natural gas and provided a huge opportunity for consumers to save money based on their usage. We’re passing that opportunity on to you as a member of Vail Valley Partnership.
What this means to your business, is that you now get to choose who supplies the natural gas to your business, and bank the savings. If you weren’t made aware of rate choices, SWiTCH Energy Advisors can give you natural gas rate choices and help you lower your utility bill by up to 30%. No interruption in service. No sales pitches. No costs to SWiTCH. And the Energy Delivery of your natural gas is still done by your public utility company. It is a simple and fast conversion.
