Women in Business, C-Suite & Young Professionals

Program Overview

Format: In-Person

Dates: Monthly, April – November

Description: Vail Valley Works Industry Groups bring businesses together to explore challenges and share best practices.  Industry Groups are curated by VVP staff based on business and community input and will meet 8 times from April – November.  Groups will have the opportunity to continue into the next year should they find value, however VVP will continue to add new Industry Groups on an annual basis based on current data and industry needs. The industry groups offered in 2024 will be Women in Business, C-Suite & Young Professionals.

Intended For: Business leaders intent on establishing, expanding, and fostering networks specific to each critical industry upon which the Eagle River Valley’s economy is based. Participants will gain or build upon a sense of belonging in their industry with connections to colleagues with which they can troubleshoot challenges, explore ideas and opportunities, and celebrate accomplishments.

Cost: $500 (VVP Members)*/$650 (Public Price)

2024 Industry Group Details

Women in Business Industry Group

  • Facilitated By: Kim Smith, CPC, Adventures in Coaching (Learn More About Kim)
  • Dates: Wednesdays, Monthly: April – November (9:00 – 10:30am)
    • May 1st, May 22nd, June 26th, July 24th, August 28th, September 25th, October 23rd, November TBD
  • Format: In-Person (VVP Offices, Edwards)
  • Description: Certified Professional Coach Kim Smith will take the participants through a progression of topics that will empower women in the workplace. These include identifying your leadership style, leadership and communication skills around needs and challenges, shifting your mindset from problems to opportunities, setting boundaries, aligning with your values, passions, skills and purpose, creating a vision and plan for your career, developing resiliency, identifying limiting beliefs, and how to create change and establish accountability, and more.
  • WIB Participants will leave with a greater sense and vision of where they want to go in their career and why, a plan to get there, a supportive environment where participants discuss challenges and celebrate wins, a sense of belonging within the community, professional development skills to further their career, and professional network with which they can grow.

C-Suite Industry Group

  • Facilitated By: Dr. Karah Maloley (Learn More About Karah)
  • Dates: Mondays, Monthly: April – November (1:00 – 2:30pm)
    • April 29th, May 30th (SOCIAL – 5pm), June 17th, July 22nd, August 19th, September 23rd, October 21st, November 20th (SOCIAL)
  • Format: In-Person (Colorado Mountain College, Edwards)
  • Description: This group will explore C-Suite challenges from a personal and local business perspective. This group is open to anyone in a strategic leadership position, with a particular focus on positions such as, but not limited to: CEOs, Executive Directors, COOs, CFOs, Owner/Operator, etc. Personal development topics include using the Masterminds framework of lifelines, values, strengths, calling card, passions and legacy. We will discuss local business issues unique to our mountain valley including supply chain, workforce pipeline, housing, childcare, employee retention and business expansion. C-suite Participants should leave with tangible strategies and networks for reducing costs and garnering greater employee satisfaction and retention as well as a better understanding of themselves as leaders in the community. Participants in this group will also serve as mentors through Eagle County Schools business programs and share their skills and knowledge with the next generation of leaders.

Young Professional Industry Group

    • April 15th, May 28th (Tues, adjusted for Memorial Day), June 24th, July 29th, August 26th, September 30th, October 28th, November TBD
  • Format: In-Person (Colorado Mountain College, Edwards)
  • Description: This group will explore business in this valley from the young professional perspective, discussing both the benefits and challenges faced by this group.  We will explore personal and group development strategies and look at where young professionals fit into the overall business picture of the valley. Personal development topics include using the Masterminds framework of lifelines, values, strengths, calling card, passions and legacy. We will discuss local business issues unique to our mountain valley including supply chain, workforce pipeline, housing, childcare, employee retention and business expansion. Young professionals should leave with a better understanding of themselves as leaders in the community.
