Program Overview

Format: In-Person (Locations TBD)

Dates: Monthly, March – October

Description: Vail Valley Works Industry Groups bring businesses together to explore challenges and share best practices.  Industry Groups are curated by VVP staff based on business and community input and will meet 8 times from March – October.  Groups will have the opportunity to continue into the next year should they find value, however VVP will continue to add new Industry Groups on an annual basis based on current data and industry needs. The industry groups offered in 2023 will be Women in Business, C-Suite, Outdoor Recreation, and Food & Beverage.

Intended For: Business leaders intent on establishing, expanding, and fostering networks specific to each critical industry upon which the Eagle River Valley’s economy is based. Participants will gain or build upon a sense of belonging in their industry with connections to colleagues with which they can troubleshoot challenges, explore ideas and opportunities, and celebrate accomplishments.

Cost:

  • $400 (VVP Members)*
  • $575 (Public Price)

Women in Business Industry Group

  • Facilitated By: Kim Smith, CPC, Adventures in Coaching
  • Dates: 4th Monday of the month, March – October (9:00 – 10:30am)
  • Format: In-Person (Colorado Mountain College, Edwards)
  • Description: Certified Professional Coach Kim Smith will take the participants through a progression of issues that women encounter in the workplace. Those include identifying and aligning with your purpose, creating a vision and plan, leadership skills, resiliency, growth mindset, breaking the glass ceiling, change and accountability, trusting yourself and your intuition, mindfulness, and more. WIB Participants will leave with a greater sense of where they belong in the community, tangible professional development skills to further their career, and a more defined professional network with which they can grow.

C-Suite Industry Group

  • Dates: 4th Monday of the month, March – October (9:00 – 10:30am)
  • Format: In-Person (Colorado Mountain College, Edwards)
  • Description: This group will explore C-Suite challenges from a personal and local business perspective. This group is open to anyone in a strategic leadership position, with a particular focus on positions such as, but not limited to: CEOs, Executive Directors, COOs, CFOs, Owner/Operator, etc. Personal development topics include using the Masterminds framework of lifelines, values, strengths, calling card, passions and legacy. We will discuss local business issues unique to our mountain valley including supply chain, workforce pipeline, housing, childcare, employee retention and business expansion. C-suite Participants should leave with tangible strategies and networks for reducing costs and garnering greater employee satisfaction and retention as well as a better understanding of themselves as leaders in the community. Participants in this group will also serve as mentors through Eagle County Schools business programs and share their skills and knowledge with the next generation of leaders.

Outdoor Recreation Industry Group

  • Dates: 4th Monday of the month, March – October (9:00 – 10:30am)
  • Format: In-Person (Colorado Mountain College, Edwards)
  • Description: This industry group will be lead by Chris Romer (VVP) and will also utilize a number of experts in the field to cover a wide variety of topics. Topics will include: Supply chain issues, mountain corridor challenges & opportunities, direction of the industry, future of outdoor recreation in terms of potential users, equipment & industry trends, best practices for environmental sustainability, how to be a respected “local” brand while still serving a national and international clientele, employee attraction, satisfaction and retention policies.

Food and Beverage Industry Group

  • Format: In-Person (Colorado Mountain College, Edwards)
  • Description: Expand your network of F&B professionals and discuss all things food & beverage in our rural resort community! Topics will include: employee attraction, satisfaction and retention policies, understanding the financials of the restaurant industry (including profit and loss, food and labor costs and inventory), marketing and PR for your business (Where are your dollars best spent and how do you identify your target audience?), seasonality pricing, hours and specials (How restaurants in this valley can truly be two different restaurants depending on the time of year.), expansion and franchising.
