The Cycle Effect works to provide young women equal opportunity and access to the sport of mountain biking. Position

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Program Director serves as a critical team member of the organization’s leadership team and an active participant in leading, influencing, designing, growing, and implementing the strategic direction of The Cycle Effect. This position requires exceptional relationship management, problem solving and leadership skills. 

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Setting the strategic vision of the program department and overseeing all aspects of programming.
  • Engage with community groups and organizations to build alliances and partnerships in all communities.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to managers and coaches. 
  • Developing budgets to meet the needs of the programming department
  • Supporting revenue goals through sponsorships, grants, events, programming fees, and individual giving.
  • Providing reports and presentations to the Board Of Directors.
  • Oversee day to day operation of the programming department
  • Identify and address problems and opportunities for the organization
  • Lead a team of 4 Full-time staff members and oversee 40-60 part-time positions. 
  • Ensuring programming policies, risk management procedures, and training materials/requirements are up to date and accurately distributed to the necessary persons. 
  • Implementing, analyzing, and reporting on evaluation plans (including participant and parent surveys, coach report forms, attendance records, etc.) and progress towards program goals and objectives.
  • Hiring, on-boarding, training, supervising, and evaluating full-time and part-time staff.
  • Lead team meetings
  • Analyzing participant statistics to recognize trends and possible areas of improvement.
  • Attend some races and major programming events in each county, at least one practice a week and off season programming. 
  • Responsible for ensuring program teams set rocks, and meet program and organizational goals.
  • Attend weekly leadership team meetings and represent the programs team.
  • Approve payroll for coaches assuring teams stay within payroll budget.
  • Vehicle fleet management including registration, annual vehicle safety checks, etc. 

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of community supporters and build long-term relationships
  • Exceptional computer skills with Google (Drive, Docs, Calendar, Sheets, Forms, Classroom, etc.)
  • Proven ability to manage and create team unity even amongst a team that work remotely
  • Dependable team player
  • Experience in program design and management
  • High energy and passion for The Cycle Effect mission is essential
  • High level of critical thinking skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to build relationships with various people (participant families, sponsors, donors, volunteers, etc.)
  • Ability to remain calm, flexible, compassionate, and patient
  • Experience overseeing budgets and managing budgets preferred
  • Self-motivated to initiate projects for the improvement of The Cycle Effect
  • Knowledge of EOS – Entrepreneurial Operating System for Businesses a plus
  • Willingness to do whatever is needed
  • Ideally resides in Eagle County
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends with travel to our other communities required
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record 
  • Background check required
  • At least two years of experience in a non-profit organization; demonstrated success in a leadership role.
  • Minimum two years management experience preferred
  • Spanish language skills preferred

Physical Requirements

This position spends time outdoors on a mountain bike. The position is responsible for teaching/mentoring middle school and high school girls how to ride a bike, including single tracks, and coaching them on how to handle a variety of terrain, including technical courses. We will offer bike coaching, and youth development training for our employees. 

Must be willing to learn to ride a mountain bike on local trails and be physically capable of lifting and hauling gear of up to 50 lbs.

  •   Salary range: $70,000-75,000
