Title:  Marketing and Public Relations Manager

Reports to:  Director of Development and Marketing

 

Position Summary:

This individual manages all aspects of Roundup River Ranch’s marketing, communications, public relations, community outreach and advertising activities. The Marketing and Public Relations Manager develops and executes an annual marketing and communications plan that promotes the implementation of best practices that enhance the brand awareness of Roundup River Ranch and promotes positive communication to external and internal audiences. The Marketing and Public Relations Manager partners closely with development and camp staff to support marketing and communications activities related to each of these areas and to promote awareness, brand strength, and cohesion across Roundup River Ranch.

Location:  This position is based with our Development and Administrative team in Eagle County, Colorado and will require regular travel throughout the Vail Valley and to and from Denver and beyond.

 

Qualifications:  Specific qualifications include:

  • Thorough knowledge of or ability to learn: the mission, objectives, programs, policies and procedures of Roundup River Ranch.
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
  • Five years experience working in a marketing environment. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of the nonprofit field, graphic design experience and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and connect with key stakeholders on a level that is professional and shares the stories of Roundup River Ranch in a compelling manner.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Possess a strong command of the English language with the ability to compose, edit and proof marketing materials and communications.
  • Analytical, strong ability to multi-task, and be self-motivated and directed; possess excellent administrative skills, highly determined, and strong organization skills.
  • Proven ability to produce results in a highly deadline-oriented environment and attentive to detail.
  • Sense of innovation that will support advancement of Roundup River Ranch’s marketing and communication strategies.
  • Extremely strong interpersonal skills, particularly regarding the judgment, discretion, confidentiality, and understanding necessary for dealing effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Independence; a strong team orientation toward both internal and external constituencies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing

  • Oversee and manage all marketing and promotional efforts, including the development of camper and volunteer recruitment tools, organizational collateral materials, promotional tools, media relations and advertising.
  • Work closely with the Director of Development and Marketing and CEO to develop annual strategies and plans related to marketing, communications and public relations.
  • Work with senior leadership to respond to Board, volunteer, donor and media requests, as well as respond to emergencies, crises, or negative publicity.
  • Build the brand and grow awareness of the camp locally and regionally, with a growing emphasis on the Denver Metro area and beyond.
  • Maintain and manage relationships with external consultants and partners.
  • In collaboration with Marketing Coordinator, manage Roundup River Ranch website, conducting regular updates to content, functionality, and other website elements.
  • Oversee social media strategy designed to engage, inform, and highlight organize to a diverse group of constituents.
  • Determine and implement ad placement strategy designed to increase awareness and encourage action throughout the defined target areas while remaining on budget.
  • Manage the production of Roundup River Ranch video projects.
  • Manage and participate in the acquisition of materials from camp to better tell the story of Roundup River Ranch through words and images.
  • Review of key materials produced by other staff members to ensure that messages are on brand and consistent with other language used. Provide feedback and support updates as needed.
  • In collaboration with Marketing Coordinator, continually seek to improve the materials produced and the presence maintained while supporting all staff with marketing needs.
  • Procure and manage Roundup River Ranch merchandise for giveaways and for sale.
  • Support/manage the Camper Ambassador Program in conjunction with Roundup River Ranch camp staff. Engage Camper Ambassadors in meaningful opportunities to share the healing power of camp.

Communications

  • Manage the development of camp communications and publications for external constituents. This is inclusive of camper and volunteer communications.
  • Implement communications calendar within the established timeline, adjusting as needed to accommodate unforeseen opportunities or changes.
  • Utilize multiple communications tools and vehicles to tell the story of Roundup River Ranch in an engaging and informative manner, including strong calls-to-action where appropriate.
  • Utilize communications calendar to promote the activities of other departments

Public Relations

  • In collaboration with outside consultants and partners as necessary, develop and execute a multi-pronged public relations and media relations strategy designed to engage and inform target audiences.
  • Assist and management the development of talking points and other tools to help prepare key stakeholders for interviews.
  • Serve as the primary contact for media visits at Camp, coordinating with camp staff, camper families, and others as needed to execute a visit that puts campers first while achieving desired media outcomes.
  • Hone the Roundup River Ranch story and message for a variety of publications.
  • Review materials developed by others prior to submission to ensure message remains on brand.

Development

  • Support the marketing and communications efforts of all events and develop all necessary event materials.
  • In conjunction with development staff, produce marketing collateral that will support donor cultivation and stewardship.
  • Manage/create the annual (impact) report, stewardship reports, and other key materials for donors.
  • Support/implement the creation of presentations, templates, and other collateral for fundraising staff.
  • Support/manage direct mail and electronic appeals
  • Other duties as assigned pertaining to Development activity

Management of Marketing Team

  • Oversee and manage Marketing Coordinator, the seasonal Media Specialist and Camp Photographer and other team members as deemed necessary.
  • Support the needs of marketing team and encourage continued professional growth and satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with Executive Camp Director and other camp staff to ensure Media Specialist fulfills ancillary duties outside of marketing, development, and other related functions
