Director of Marketing

This position is based in Vail, CO or remotely in Denver, CO. The candidate will receive direct guidance and supervision from the Director of Sales & Marketing and the resort’s Managing Director.

The ideal candidate must have significant experience in developing and executing strategic business and marketing plans in a luxury environment; the ability to provide creative direction and ideas to support achievement of revenue goals and objectives in multiple operating departments; an exceptional luxury brand steward and facilitator of the brand to associates and partners; capable of guiding and directing multiple creative, digital media, website and public relations agencies and other external vendor partners; strong financial acumen including budget planning and expense management; the ability to effectively organize multiple priorities and projects simultaneously in an extremely fast-paced environment, and a strong desire to garner brand visibility and increase market share.

Additional skills necessary include: expertise in website development, maintenance and content management; strong understanding of social media and web channels; experience in loyalty marketing or other membership-based affinity programs; strong community relationship skills and ability to identify and build strategic partners. Residential, vacation rental sales and marketing experience, desirable.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in the yearly business planning process and responsible for the creation, implementation and management of the integrated marketing tactical plan (MK16). This includes management of all revenue streams: Hotel Talisa, Vail Residences at Hotel Talisa and all ancillary channels, including Aria Athletic Club; The Spa at Hotel Talisa; Gessner Restaurant; and the Market Café.
  • Develop and recommend positioning, promotional and packaging strategies to produce the highest possible long-term market share.
  • Adhere to brand guidelines, style guide and voice throughout all channels and champion the brand to all key stakeholders.
  • Provide short- and long-term goals through market research and collection, analysis, and interpretation of market data.
  • Influence present and future bookings by determining and evaluating current and future patterns.
  • Plan and oversee advertising and promotion activities including print, online, digital media, social media and direct mail.
  • Actively and dynamically manage website content and e-commerce strategies. Work with the Director of Revenue Management to ensure the website and linkage partners have updated marketing messages, imagery and offers.
  • Work closely with Marriott field marketing on brand-level campaigns and integration; champion the facilitation of marketing/business strategies through brand channels and touchpoints
  • Work closely with PR agency to fully integrate marketing with PR efforts. Collaborate as appropriate on press releases on special achievements, awards, new hires, activities or events that relate to the resort and its departments.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.
  • Effectively partner with and leverage corporate marketing resources to the benefit of resort. Oversee compliance with corporate marketing guidelines and maintain updated co-branding standards.
  • Maintain the integrity of the brand throughout the organization and externally with agencies, suppliers and partners. Manage brand styleguide, photo archives and all marketing assets.
  • Create and execute social media strategy and enhance visibility across social media channels.
  • Assist in preparation and management of sales and marketing expense budget for the resort.
  • Support property direct sales efforts.
  • Assist with the creation of all marketing collateral, both printed and digital.
  • Manage and oversee weekly/monthly project updates, traffic reports and other reports as required.
  • Manage the process of collecting data for the property customer database.

Skills, Education and Experience

  • Marketing communications, brand management, PR and media relations, traditional and digital marketing (including content marketing), social networking tools and techniques.
  • Experience within the luxury market.
  • Excellent writing skills and oral proficiency.
  • University degree or equivalent experience in marketing.
  • Minimum six years of hospitality industry marketing leadership experience.
  • Well organized, strong attention to detail and capable of working quickly and handling many projects and job functions simultaneously.
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office, Adobe and or other relevant programs.
