Title:  Development Officer, Individual Giving

Department:  Development

Reports to: Associate Director of Development

Position Summary:  The Development Officer is responsible for planning and implementing strategies and practices that nurture, solicit and steward existing and prospective donors, both through individual giving, sponsorship’s of special events and in some instances corporate and foundation gifts.  The individual will represent RRR to various external constituencies and have personal objectives for raising gifts related to individual giving.

Location:  This position is based in Gypsum, CO. This position requires travel between Denver, throughout the Vail Valley and other locations throughout the state and within our geographic region.

Qualifications:  Specific qualifications include an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university; two to five years’ professional experience with at least two years working in a fundraising environment required.  Preference will be given to those candidates with personal solicitation and development experience and experience utilizing donor database software.  Candidates should have a proven and successful track record of individual solicitation, fundraising, direct mail campaigns and grant writing. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, word processing and spreadsheet knowledge are required.  Applicants must possess a strong command of the English language with the ability to compose, edit and proof individual donor proposals, grant proposals, and direct mail appeals.  Strong organizational skills and the ability to establish priorities are essential.

Additionally, the successful candidate will have high level of analytical ability; a multi-tasked manner of thinking; be self-motivated and possess excellent administrative skills with a proven ability to produce results in a goal oriented and highly deadline-focused environment that will further elevate Roundup River Ranch’s fund development programs. This position requires strong interpersonal skills with team orientation toward both internal and external constituencies particularly regarding the judgment, discretion, confidentiality, patience, and understanding necessary for dealing effectively with a diverse body of donors, volunteers, physicians and professional colleagues. Candidates should have a strong passion for the camp’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising:

  • A proven ability to produce results in a highly goal oriented and deadline-focused environment; attentiveness to detail; possess self-confidence with the ability to develop and grow support of Roundup River Ranch’s individual giving programs.
  • Increase donor retention through donor cultivation and stewardship. Nurture and steward relationships with existing donors, with the intention of retaining and upgrading donors. Using the donor pipeline, identify key donor prospects, develop plans for cultivation and donor acquisition, and support the process for tracking relationships and communication statuses with individual donor prospects.
  • Make 5-8 meaningful donor contacts/touch points weekly with donors in the pipeline to continue moving relationships forward.
  • Manage an active donor portfolio of at least 50 key donor relationships at any given time.
  • Develop and implement core grassroots & annual giving strategies for Roundup River Ranch with the goal of increasing grassroots and annual giving donor support by 15%.
  • Develop, implement and manage direct mail and digital appeals across the fundraising team and develop a strategy as it relates to our Summer Appeal, year-end giving and Colorado Gives Day.
  • Develop, promote and manage Monthly Giving Program through online giving and monthly giving campaigns.
  • Implement new donor and new homeowner welcome packets and manage ongoing process for sending out these communications.
  • Work with the Development & Marketing team to establish annual fundraising campaigns that support various donor demographics and develop timely and personalized communications, appeals and stewardship pieces for donors and prospects.
  • Schedule and manage camp tour process throughout the course of the year by working with the Development team and the Camp team to ensure good communication across all parts of the organization.

Special Events

  • Work in conjunction with the DODM and Associate Development Director to schedule, plan and implement successful cultivation events throughout the course of the year, including organizing guest lists, handling invitations, arranging event logistics, and communicating with cultivation event hosts.
  • Partner with the Special Events Coordinator to ensure seamless support for donors within your portfolio at signature and cultivation events.
  • Take the lead on organizing and executing 3rd Party events with community partners. Work in partnership with the Special Events Coordinator and lead fundraisers to support logistics of 3rd Party events.
  • Assist in solicitation of assigned target prospects and accounts in conjunction with special events.
  • Work with the Special Events Coordinator to organize logistics, solicit sponsors, register teams, and involve donors and stakeholders within your portfolio in Roundup River Ranch signature events and 3rd Party Events.

   Fulfillment & Community Relations

  • Serve as a liaison between marketing and fundraisers to ensure fulfillment of individual donor benefits and prepare stewardship reports as appropriate.
  • Maintain complete donor records and keep updated notes and communication in the Raiser’s Edge.
