Impacts of Front Range Growth with Steve Coffin

Watch the full video here.

Colorado’s Front Range population is growing. Many of those moving here are doing what Coloradans have done for generations – heading to the mountains to ski, hike, camp and otherwise recreate. The consequences can be seen in increasingly congested trails, impacts to wildlife and the environment, conflicts between uses and users, and more. Colorado is at risk of losing what makes it so special – the ability to enjoy our mountains and all they offer.

This presentation discussed a unique and collaborative approach to addressing this challenge that is being pursued in the north-central Front Range. Steve Coffin, a private sector consultant and long-time Coloradan concerned about this issue, talked about a three-part strategy he is coordinating that includes systemic change in how public lands are managed, convening civic and community leaders, and engaging the support of elected officials. The model the north-central Front Range is pursuing is a potential model for other challenged areas in Colorado to utilize.
