Voigt Lessons is a one-woman theatrical performance developed by Deborah Voigt with award-winning playwright Terrence McNally (Master Class, Love! Valor! Compassion!, et. al.) and renowned director Francesca Zambello.
Lasting approximately 75 minutes, the work, staged and supervised by Richard Jay-Alexander, chronicles the ups and downs of Voigt’s highprofile opera career as well as life off the stage – from her loves found and lost to her many triumphs as one of the world’s leading dramatic sopranos; from her preparation to take on the most challenging role in all opera – Brünnhilde in Wagner’s epic “Ring” Cycle, to her battle with alcohol and other addictive behavior.
