Matthew Whitaker Quintet: Though barely 20, Matthew’s enviable accolades include back-to-back wins of the ASCAP Young Jazz Composers Award, a USA Today Rising Star citation, appearances on 60 Minutes, Ellen, a Today Show documentary, and noteworthy performances at top festivals and leading venues globally including Jazz at Lincoln Center, SFJAZZ, the Kennedy Center, Royal Albert Hall, and the Newport, Monterey and Playboy jazz festivals. Matthew’s stellar organ playing garnered the youngest-ever endorsement by Hammond Organ Company when he was just 13! He has performed with Christian McBride, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Rhoda Scott, Regina Carter, Jason Moran, Roy Ayers, James Carter, Jon Batiste, and The New York Pops. Currently enrolled in the Jazz Studies program at Juilliard, Matthew’s first visit to Vail features him accompanied by his quintet.
