School’s Out Camp: Snow Science

Join us during winter break for a day of snowshoeing, outdoor exploration, and fun as we investigate the world of snow science. Learn how to dig and analyze snow pits to interpret how the snowpack changes over time and explore the ingredients necessary for avalanches to occur. Become avalanche aware, learn why Colorado’s snowpack is so prone to avalanches, and how to keep yourself safe.

Grade Level: 5th – 8th grade students

Cost: $35/student with scholarships available

Students will need to dress to be outside in the snow most of the day. They will need to wear: hat, waterproof gloves, snow pants, winter jacket, and snow boots. They should also bring backpack, warm layers, extra socks, lunch, snack, and a full water bottle.
