Harry A. Nottingham Park

There are three great reasons to be in Avon’s Harry A. Nottingham Park on Saturday, February 24th!

1. The February Freezer 5k race, a benefit for Special Olympics Colorado, will follow the summer Dunk N’ Dash course around Avon, ending at Nottingham Lake. Wear your best costume for a chance of winning a $100 cash prize in the costume contest! All participants will receive a beanie and a one-day pass to the Avon Recreation Center. The race begins at 11:00 a.m. Register in advance for $35. Same day registration is $40. Registration is available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/february-freezer-5k-benefiting-the-special-olympics-tickets-42641515922.

2. The Polar Plunge is also a fundraising event benefiting the Special Olympics. Participants create teams via the Special Olympic website; teams that raise enough money can take the plunge into Nottingham Lake. All participants will receive a long-sleeve T-shirt and a one-day pass to the Avon Recreation Center. There is a $75 fee to take the plunge, and teams are also able to raise funds, opt out of taking the plunge, and cheer on other plungers. The first team will jump in the lake at 1:00 p.m. Registration is available at www.avon.org/polarplunge.

3. Join us for a 40th Birthday celebration at 2:00 p.m., with a toast by Mayor Jennie Fancher! Free cake will be served!
