Event date: This event has already passed.

9-11am

West Avon Preserve

Did you know Eagle County is home to a very rare and beautiful flower? In fact, West Avon Preserve is one of the only places in the world you can find the elusive Harrington’s Penstemon. Come out to see this rare beauty and learn about the abundant life in the sagebrush community.

Betty Ford Alpine Gardens, Eagle Valley Land Trust, and the Town of Avon will co-lead a hike on West Avon Preserve teaching about the wildflowers and other plants found in the sagebrush community. West Avon Preserve is conserved forever through a valuable partnership between Eagle Valley Land Trust and the Town of Avon.

When: Thursday, June 16th, 9-11am

Where: West Avon Preserve — We will meet at the PB&J Trailhead (Trail Map)

Bring: We will be encountering unpredictable weather and conditions in the field. Those interested should come prepared to spend 2-3 hours outside with sun protection, water, proper layers for Colorado weather, sturdy hiking shoes, and trekking poles, if desired. Although we love dogs, they can have an impact, especially for wildlife. Please leave your furry friends at home.

Weather: This hike is weather-dependent, please check EVLT’s Facebook page on the day of the hike for information if there is inclement weather.

This hike is free and open the public but space is limited.  Register below to secure your spot.
