The Jamboree is a day and a half interactive program: It has been designed to bring together a diverse cross section of the public and private members of the development community to engage participants to explore the problems, possibilities, and solutions to achieving sustainable workforce housing.

9:00am: Panel Session – The Magic Sauce: what are the key ingredients to successful projects?

All housing developments are realized through a cooperative effort between the public, regulatory authority, and the private developer.  The panelists, representing both sides of the equation, will address their experiences with brief presentations and then address questions and share lessons learned.

10:00am: Hot Pen – The Vision: What is your perfect answer to workforce housing?

Participants will break out into groups of 6 to 8 and be asked to write down their vision of a perfect solution to housing without regard as to means and methods of achieving their vision. Each group will be hosted by a speaker. Results will be reviewed and discussed with all participants.

Participants will have an opportunity to tour 2 local projects. These tours will provide participants the opportunity to walk the properties with those who developed them and ask specific questions on the pros and cons of these communities.

Miller Ranch

Built from 2003 to 2005, this is a deed-restricted for sale project comprised of 269 lofts, townhomes and stand-alone homes.  Katherine KT Gazunis former Eagle County Housing Director and Kim Williams; Interim Housing Director, Eagle County will offer an overview presentation and tour of the project.

Lion’s Ridge Apartment Homes

Recently completed, this 114 unit rental property was a redevelopment of The Timber Ridge project.  George Ruther and developer Jen Wright; president of Wright & Company will present introduce their work on project and lead a tour.

Day 2 (August 3):

8:30am-11:30am: Town Hall Meeting

Town Hall meeting on affordable workforce housing, community impacts, and other related follow-up issues. The Town Hall will provide local residents and others an opportunity to ask the experts questions that pertain to their unique situations. This two way conversation will provide the planners and developers with direct information of what the end users of affordable housing in the Valley are looking for and what they expect in the next five years.

Participants will have a chance to engage a distinguished panel and both revisit topics from day one and explore other matters of interest. This will be an open forum aimed at fostering interaction and education.

This interactive session will be moderated by Chris Romer, President and CEO, of Vail Valley Partnership.
