“STEM is vital to our future and efforts are being made to empower and inspire youth to pursue a course of study in a STEM field, as jobs in these areas continue to grow,” said Beth Markham, Youth Programs Director at Walking Mountains Science Center. “Through after school and out of school programs, we strive to have a positive impact on the future success of our youth.”

Why is STEM Important?

Students’ interests in mathematics and science begins to diminish during the early middles school years. STEM offers an integrated approach to excite learners in these content areas. Getting students involved in exciting activities aids in combating the decline in students’ perceived abilities, by providing opportunities for success. When students view math and science as enjoyable subjects, they will grow and flourish.
