COUNTRY MUSIC MAINSTAY LYLE LOVETT
RETURNS TO THE VILAR PERFORMING ARTS CENTER
FOR AN OLD FASHIONED NIGHT OF ACOUSTIC MUSIC
BEAVER CREEK, CO: The Vilar Performing Arts Center welcomes back four-time Grammy Award-Winner Lyle Lovett, this time with His Acoustic Group, on Friday, February 27 at 7:30 PM. VPAC hosted Lyle and His Large Band this past July for a sold-out summer show and we are pleased to have this legendary artist back for an intimate night of acoustic music and story telling. With His Acoustic Group, several members of Lovett’s Large Band perform reinvented arrangements of his recorded songs in a way that highlights each member’s exceptional vocal and instrumental abilities. Because of its smaller set-up, Lyle is able to weave through the greater narrative of his music, connecting the dots between the stories in his songs and their inspirations. Tickets to Lyle Lovett and His Acoustic Group start at $95 and go on sale January 5 at the VPAC Box Office at (970.845.8497/www.vilarpac.org). The VPAC is located under the ice rink in Beaver Creek Village (68 Avondale Lane, Beaver Creek, Colorado).
Since his self-titled debut in 1986, singer-songwriter Lyle Lovett has evolved into one of music’s most vibrant and diverse Americana singers, fusing elements of country, swing, jazz, folk, gospel and blues in a convention-defying style. The Texas-based singer, composer and actor broadened the definition of American music in a career that spans 28 years and 14 albums. Coupled with his gift for storytelling, Lovett has proven himself unstoppable in his music career and has also appeared in 13 feature films, on stage and television.
The Klein, Texas native, Lyle Lovett, began his career playing local festivals and clubs while attending Texas A&M in the late ’70s where he graduated with Bachelors’ degrees in Journalism and German. From his self-titled debut album in 1986 through 2012’s Release Me, each of Lovett’s releases has served as a powerful reminder that he possesses one of the most distinctive voices in music. His sell-out concerts, whether with his versatile Large Band or in an intimate acoustic setting, serve as showcases for Lovett’s unique gift for storytelling and the tradition of timeless music Lovett continues to create. “If I Had a Boat,” “Nobody Knows Me,” “Here I Am,” and “That’s Right (You’re Not From Texas)” are only a handful of Lovett’s 21 hit singles, and he continues to tour and make innovative, noteworthy music.
This tour features Lyle Lovett and His Acoustic Group, a true finger-pickin’ evening of cowboy music perfectly suited for subtly enhancing the most cherished and understated songs from Lovett’s deep catalog.
Having more space allows him more time to speak and to demonstrate his connection to and appreciation for each musician surrounding him onstage, giving people in the audience, a true feeling of intimacy.
Among his many accolades, besides the four Grammy Awards, Lyle was given the Americana Music Association’s inaugural Trailblazer Award, and was recently named the Texas State Musician.
