Denver Business Journal Names Gilman to Top Women in Energy List
Megan Gilman, the President of Minturn-based Active Energies, has been named to the Denver Business Journal’s inaugural list of the Top Women in Energy. The honor was announced at a reception held in Denver on October 29 and appears in the latest edition of the Denver Business Journal.
Gilman was recognized for her impact in energy efficiency and renewable energy both in the state of Colorado and far-reaching areas of the globe. As President of Active Energies, Gilman has led the Minturn, Colorado-based company to be an international leader in the field of green building and energy efficiency. Active Energies is now working in nine countries in five continents providing expertise and professional training on ground-breaking energy and building projects.
Gilman¹s personal roles within the larger community were among the other reasons for her selection. She serves on the Board of Directors of Holy Cross Energy, Colorado¹s third largest electric cooperative, and represents Holy Cross Energy and its members on the Colorado Rural Electric Association Board.
Gilman also served on the State of Colorado¹s Energy Key Industry Network Steering Committee as part of a statewide economic development strategy initiated by the Governor¹s office to leverage information from leaders in the state¹s energy field. She also sits on the Board of Directors of Walking Mountains Science School and holds numerous committee and advisory positions throughout the community.
Following the announcement of the award, Gilman said ³I was thrilled to be recognized and to represent all of the great work being done in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency in Colorado. The energy field encompasses everything from oil and gas to utilities to renewable energy, so it is a wonderful feeling to be among the first women honored in the top of this field.²
