It’s Spring clean-up time again and the Town of Gypsum encourages residents to bring your unwanted items to the Sports Complex parking lot Saturday May 10, 2014 from 8am to 12 noon for free dumping and a Shred-A-Thon to support the Gypsum Fire Department. In addition, community volunteers are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and join town staff in picking up trash and recyclables in our neighborhoods that morning.
The community dump site at the Sports Complex parking lot will have dumpsters for household trash, tires (Limit 4) and yard items. In addition, Trinity Recycling will be on site for metal, appliance and electronic recycling. Habitat for Humanity will have a truck to take unwanted furniture in good condition. The town is limiting dumps to one truck/trailer load per household and no business waste please. Residents must bring an ID showing proof of residency and be prepared to unload your own truck.
For seniors and folks with physical disabilities, the Town of Gypsum Staff will also provide curb side removal of waste items within the town limits. To schedule curbside removal that morning, contact Krista DeHerrera, the Special Projects Coordinator by Friday May 9 before 3 pm.
The Gypsum Fire Department is hosting a document shredding booth at the Sports Complex parking lot. There is a $5 minimum for shredding and a $15 per box price. All proceeds go toward the 2014 equipment replacement fund.
Once you have dropped off your unwanted items, join staff and other community members in our neighborhood clean-up. Folks can meet town staff at 9am in the Town Annex building off Cooley Mesa Rd. Gloves and trash bags, provided by the Town of Gypsum Department of Public Works, will be supplied to all community volunteers. Volunteers will be treated to doughnuts and coffee before they are teamed up and dispersed into neighborhoods to pick up trash and recyclables. We encourage businesses and organizations to form their own teams and join us as well. Typically, the cleanup does not last longer than a couple of hours. Following the clean-up, the Town of Gypsum will provide lunch back at the Annex Building.
