Vail Jazz Foundation continues its Vail Jazz Winter Series with the Diego Figueiredo Quartet at the Fitz Lounge on Sunday, March 9th.
At just 24 years old, Brazilian Diego Figueiredo is electrifying the jazz community with his impassioned lyrical phrasing and unprecedented technique. Diego is the kind of musician that appears maybe three or four times a century, surpassing expectations and “rewriting the books” on improvisation and jazz guitar. Winner of two awards at the prestigious Montreaux Jazz Festival, Diego presents a fusion between Jazz, Bossa Nova and classical sounds, he studied jazz guitar on a full scholarship at the Berklee College of Music. George Benson called Figueiredo “one of the greatest guitarists I’ve seen in my whole life.”
Figueiredo has performed at the Vail Jazz Festival in 2012 and 2013, mesmerizing audiences with his masterful skills and extraordinary talent. He is no doubt today’s biggest rising star on the jazz guitar.
Diego will be joined by Bob Rebholz on tenor saxophone and flute, Eduardo “Bijoux” Barbosa on bass and Vail’s own Allan Finney on drums. The Fitz Lounge at Manor Vail Lodge will be the “club” setting for the Quartet’s two set performance – at 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Tickets are available for each seating for $20; $30 for both sets. The Fitz will provide a menu for guests who want appetizers, a light meal or dessert; and have a $10 food and beverage minimum for these performances. Lord Gore will donate 20% of sales from Sunday night to The Vail Jazz Foundation’s educational programs. Tickets are available at www.vailjazz.org or 970-479-6146. Performances take place at the Fitz Lounge 575 Vail Valley Drive, Vail,CO
