  • Habitat for Humanity Launches World of Hope

Habitat for Humanity’s mission is to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope. As families become homeowners, they often improve their financial situations, and their physical and mental wellbeing. Children often make better grades in school and start to consider further education. As Habitat increases their home building capacity, more and more families can build and purchase their own homes. Hope grows within each family, and also within our community.

“Building and owning their own home often rekindles hope and increases confidence in our Partner Families. We have seen that this positive impact translates into improvements in the health and education of a family. I am so happy to see our Partner Families thriving in their lives.” said Emily Peyton, Family Services Director at Habitat for Humanity.

The $6M World of Hope Campaign is designed to create longevity and sustainability. Every dollar raised at Habitat for Humanity is leveraged through volunteer services, donated materials, grants and mortgage payments from current Habitat homeowners. As the mortgage portfolio grows, Habitat is able to serve more and more families helping to impact the affordable housing crisis in our valley.

Habitat is reaching out to our local community members and businesses to help raise $100,000 through December 31st as the final stage of the campaign. Every donor and donation is appreciated.

“We have a tremendous opportunity through this campaign to secure additional home sites at current market rates. By reaching our goals, we will position ourselves, as an organization, to thrive, create sustainability and help many more families do the same.” Said John Welaj, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity

Six families are currently living in Habitat homes in Stratton Flats, in Gypsum, and six more homes are in the final stages of construction. The plan is to continue building in this community and to expand our capacity to serve more families throughout the Vail Valley.
