  • New Owner, New Management For Eagle Villas Apartment Homes

Sandalwood Management Inc. now manages Eagle Villas Apartments, in Eagle, Colo., with a mission to provide great service and diligent care for residents and property alike.

Sandalwood Management, a real estate investment and management firm based in Austin, Texas, is known for transforming multifamily properties into a place residents can proudly call home. Sandalwood President Joel Ospovat says his team saw endless potential in Eagle Villas: The property, located on the banks of the Eagle River, is surrounded by stunning views, and there is a nearby biking trail and expansive city park.

“Properties like this, in a market like this, with a location like this, should have a waiting list,” Ospovat says.

The property management company prides itself on managing costs while providing superior service and quality homes. The team was intrigued by the property’s lower-than-average occupancy rates in a market desperate for quality affordable housing. The Sandalwood family recognized that the community – employees, employers and residents – could benefit from a property with Eagle Villas’ attributes. In short, Sandalwood wants the property to be an asset to this great community, says Ospovat.

Sandalwood Management comes with a mission. Since its takeover on Dec. 28, 2012, the firm has already significantly improved Eagle Villas, for example:

  • Appointing new management and experienced, licensed maintenance staff.

  • Addressing existing maintenance issues, and initiating a proactive preventive maintenance program.

  • Improving the property’s “curb appeal.”

  • Fully remodeling the leasing office and creating a business center.

  • Providing excellent customer service to the community.
  • The lack of budget-friendly accommodation in Eagle County has long been an issue for Vail Valley businesses, the majority of which are in the accommodation and food services sector. According to the Economic Council of Eagle Workforce Report 2012, employees struggle to find housing they desire at an affordable price, with 49% of respondents saying housing options “could be better.”

Given the Valley’s dependence on tourism related jobs, affordability and proximity to work are critical factors for workers looking for a place to live,” said Chris Romer, President/CEO at the Vail Valley Partnership and Economic Council of Eagle County. “Updates to our housing inventory— that offer good value, high quality and accessible accommodation – help to support the needs of our largest industry.”

Situated just 25 minutes from the luxury resort of Beaver Creek, Eagle Villas provides the advantages of a professionally managed community such as onsite staff and 24-hour emergency maintenance, service that is hard to find in Vail Valley.

Rental rates at Eagle Villas are 20% less than the average market rate in Avon,” says Ospovat.” The extra 20 minutes drive to work at Beaver Creek or Vail could be well worth it.”
