Another update on the proposed Vail Golf Course Clubhouse renovation project will be reviewed by the Vail Town Council at its Tuesday, Sept. 18 evening meeting. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Vail Town Council Chambers. The item is listed fourth on the agenda and public comment will be taken.
During the update, the Town Council will continue its review of a list of issues and concerns that have been identified to date during the public input process. An earlier review took place at the Sept. 4 meeting. Plans for renovation of the clubhouse have been underway since last November after voters approved reallocation of the Conference Center Funds.
Tuesday’s agenda item will focus on additional information regarding the driving range netting, the project design, including site layout, landscaping and circulation, plus floor plans and elevations.
Earlier reviews have explored a re-zoning process for the site, proposed parameters for use of temporary tents on the clubhouse site, possible uses for the existing 18th green following realignment of the hole, parking lot access and netting for the driving range. Subsequent reviews will include a feasibility analysis, an operations plan for the facility and a parking management plan.
The renovation proposes to expand indoor capacity of the clubhouse restaurant space from the current 120 person capacity to approximately 200. Other improvements planned for the building include an expanded pro shop area on the ground floor which will also function as the Nordic Center. A new at-grade entry, sidewalks, expanded decks and an elevator also are planned.
An initial application for the project may be made to the Planning and Environmental Commission in late September to allow the review board to begin providing input on the project in a work session format in October. A completed formal development application for the project will be made once the issues and design have been presented to the Town Council and the community has had an opportunity to provide public input.
