The Vail Valley Partnership- the Chamber & Tourism Bureau (VVP) today announced that through its destination sales and marketing efforts, the Partnership is responsible for generating $69,000,000 in direct guest spending in the Eagle River Valley in 2012. Booked group business, leisure sales and recruitment for sports and events through the VVP attributes to this overall number.
The $69 million is assessed by the direct traceable lodging revenue; the number of guest room nights, the length of the stay and incremental guest, group or participant spending. Incremental guest spending figures are based on research conducted by groups like the Convention Industry Council, National Convention of Sports Commission, Vail Local Marketing District, as well as local event research and intercept studies.
The total economic impact for sports and event business brought in by the Partnership totaled at over $45 million. In 2012, Vail Valley Partnership helped to bring in signature events like Tough Mudder-Beaver Creek, Vail Rocks, GrandFondo Cannondale Vail, the Ragnar Relay Race, Tour of Vail and others. Group Sales Managers at the Partnership work to recruit events, groups and meeting and weddings to the Vail Valley throughout the year.
“The Partnership strives to bring meetings, groups, events and leisure travelers to our community as part of our role as the region’s Destination Marketing Organization. We also work collaboratively with organizations, including the Colorado Tourism Office and local stakeholders to increase tourism to the Vail Valley. Our group, meeting & event recruiting efforts continue to pay off with increased lodging occupancies and economic vitality throughout the year,” said Chris Romer, executive director of Vail Valley Partnership.
Membership with the Chamber supports the Vail Valley Partnership’s destination tourism efforts, which in turn supports the Eagle River Valley. The Vail Valley Partnership is the only non-profit organization working to promote tourism efforts for the entire valley.
