The Town of Vail will be fielding a voter survey this month to help the Town Council gather information as it contemplates a potential ballot question for the November election. As currently drafted, the ballot question proposes to increase lodging and sales taxes for a period of five years to fund athletic and cultural events and programs in the Town of Vail.
The town has hired Magellan Strategies, a public opinion research firm based in Louisville, Colo., to conduct the survey. Interviews will be conducted from May 7-31. The survey will attempt to reach registered voters on their landline phone, cell phone or by email invitation.
The landline and cell phone calls will be made to registered Town of Vail voters during the afternoons and evenings (no later than 8 p.m.) and will take approximately 12 minutes to complete. Beginning May 10, there will also be a web link on the Town of Vail website at vailgov.com that will invite registered voters to take the survey.
The goal is to collect opinions from 300 or more registered voters to determine the level of support and opposition to a draft ballot measure.
