The Vail Valley Partnership today announced its approaching anniversary date of 48 years on Sunday, September 4th. While its name has not always been Vail Valley Partnership, the organization has a long and storied history in the Vail Valley. It was back in 1964 that Vail Resort Association (VRA) was first chartered as an alliance between Vail Associates and the business community. The VRA was formed as a marketing cooperative with the purpose to promote the common business interest of the commercial enterprises in the Town of Vail.
In 1988, the VRA was dissolved and the Vail Valley Chamber of Commerce was chartered and oversaw Vail’s special events, information booths and member relations. Two years later, the Vail Valley Chamber of Commerce closed its doors and special events and Vail Information booths were contracted to VRA after it was reinstated. In 1992, Vail Resort Association changed its name to Vail Valley Tourism & Convention Bureau (VVTCB) due to its organizational purpose. In 2002, VVCTB merged with the Vail Valley Chamber of Commerce to become the Vail Valley Chamber & Tourism Bureau. It was in 2007 that Vail Valley Partnership got its name in an effort to better reflect the organization’s partnership and role with the community, businesses and commitment to enhancing the region’s tourism industry with the motto: Support, Unite, Lead.
While the name of the organization has changed over the years, the mission has remained steadfast throughout the years; maintain a strong and important presence in the business community and help promote the Vail Valley. Today, the Vail Valley Partnership is a regional leader in sustaining & enhancing the Vail Valley as a tourism destination and as a place to do business by contributing to the identity and economic well-being of the Eagle County. The VVP takes a leadership role with community and business partners to provide a business-to-business resource and voice for businesses in addition to our destination marketing & sales efforts.
“Much like the Vail Valley, the Vail Valley Partnership organization has grown over the years into the organization we are today. We are proud of our 48 years of service to the community and will to continue to grown and adapt and we hope to serve the community for another 48+ years,” said Partnership executive director Chris Romer.
