Community Land Connection Series – Wandering Wednesdays

Event date: This event has already passed.

12:00 - 1:30pm

Brush Creek Ranch and Open Space: November 25th, December 16th
Miller Ranch Community Open Space: December 2nd, December 23rd
Eagle River Preserve: December 9th, December 30th

This upcoming winter is shaping up to be quite different than winters of old. With shorter days and more uncertainty than ever, time outside seems to be growing ever fleeting.

Eagle Valley Land Trust and Eagle County Open Space are teaming up to provide our community with that time outside. We want to show folks that building community outside is still encouraged, and necessary! So begins our Wandering Wednesdays for folks to link up, enjoy some of our valley’s best open spaces, and most importantly, take a load off in these stressful times. Discussion will range from the land we live in, to wildlife, recreation, and whatever else it is that comes to mind that day. If we are to get anything out of this series, it’s that people venture outside and enjoy one another’s company.

Wandering Wednesdays will be led by a rotation of the most prolific (but by no means quickest) hikers in the valley:

  • Jessica Foulis, Executive Director at Eagle Valley Land Trust
  • Peter Suneson, Education and Outreach Specialist at Eagle County Open Space
  • Oliver Skelly, Community Conservation Coordinator at Eagle Valley Land Trust

When: Every Wednesday through the New Year, 12 – 1:30pm

Where:

Bring: We will be encountering unpredictable weather and conditions in the field. Those interested should come prepared to spend 1-2 hours outside with sun protection, water, proper layers for Colorado winter, sturdy hiking shoes, and trekking poles, if desired. In accordance with the current public health order, we ask that you please bring a face covering and practice social distancing.

Weather/Pets: This hike is weather-dependent, please check EVLT’s Facebook page on the day of the hike for information if there is inclement weather. Although we love dogs, not everyone else does, especially wildlife. Please leave your furry friends at home.

This hike is free and open to the public but space is limited to 8 participants to keep in line with existing public health orders.

Please email community@evlt.org for more information and to reserve your spot.
