VAIL, Colo. – June 7, 2017 – Summer officially kicks off this weekend, as Epic Discovery at Vail Mountain opens for daily operations and Vail is host to the GoPro Mountain Games.

On Friday at 9:30 a.m., Vail Mountain will begin operating Gondola One in Vail Village and the Eagle Bahn Gondola in Lionshead Village, accessing Epic Discovery at the top of Vail Mountain. Epic Discovery will open at 10 a.m. with the following activity offerings: the Game Creek Zipline Tour, Holy Cross Adventure Course, Forest Flyer Mountain Coaster, Little Eagle Zipline, Pine Cone Adventure Course and bungee trampoline. The new Paramount Peak Climbing Wall is anticipated to open during the weekend. The Gore Creek Mini Golf located at the base of Eagle Bahn Gondola in Lionshead will also open on Friday.

From Thursday through Sunday, June 8-11, guests to the Vail Valley will have numerous opportunities to watch and participate in the GoPro Mountain Games, hosted by the Vail Valley Foundation. With nine disciplines and more than 25 events, including x-country and road cycling, trail running, freestyle kayak, 8-Ball kayak, raft cross, IFSC World Cup Climbing, stand up paddle sprint and surf cross, DockDog comps and the Ultimate Mountain Challenge, the schedule is full of options for families and participants alike.

Also beginning on Friday, Vail Mountain’s new Kids Ride Free program will be offered for children 12-and-under. During summer operations, kids can ride the gondola free with the purchase of an adult ticket, allowing children to experience panoramic view of the Vail Valley and the legendary Gore Mountain Range through a scenic gondola ride.

For ease of purchase, guests now have the ability to select summer products online, which includes the introduction of individual activity tickets. This effort provides guests with the flexibility and choice between unlimited access through pass products, or the option to try specific activities at an independent activity cost.
