The Vail Valley Charitable Fund is proud to present the 10th Annual BecTri Sprint Triathlon, 5K Walk/Run, Kids Duathlon and Kids Triathlon on Saturday August 5th, 2017! The four parts of the BecTri will challenge athletes of all ages and abilities. The sprint triathlon will start at 8:00 am at Nottingham Park in Avon, Colorado. Race as an individual or with friends as a team – it’s a great race for beginners who want to experience the challenge of a high-altitude, open-water swim. All levels of athletes are encouraged to participate.

The race starts with a 400m open water swim in the beautiful, high-altitude Nottingham Lake in Avon, Colorado. The 15K bike leg takes off from the park and circles through the Singletree neighborhood. The hill through the neighborhood climbs 400′ gently over about 1.7 miles. So it could be called a moderate hill… look at it as a challenge, not a threat! Head back down Highway 6 to Avon and back to the transition area. Transition from your bike and finish with a fast 5K run or walk along the pristine Eagle River paved path while friends and family cheer you on!

Event History

BecTri is named in memory of Rebecca Lynn Yarberry, a local triathlete and dear friend who passed away in a tragic car accident in 2007.  Becky dedicated her life to helping others personally and through her career as a clinical supervisor at Colorado Mountain Medical in Vail, CO. We honor her memory by presenting a race that supports the charitable cause she was passionate about, and honor her spirit by fostering a race environment that is encouraging to everyone, regardless of skill level.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the Vail Valley Charitable Fund, helping locals like Laura in medical crisis since 1996. To learn more about this nonprofit, visit www.vvcf.org.
