Mental Health Colorado’s “Conversation With Colorado”
5:15-7:00pm
Vail Public Library Community Room
292 W. Meadow Drive
Vail, CO 81657
Mental Health Colorado is currently on a listening tour across Colorado. Our “Conversation with Colorado” heads to Vail on Wednesday, April 19th. We are going to communities in our state to engage more Coloradans in breaking through the barriers of mental health care. Andrew Romanoff, President and CEO of Mental Health Colorado, leads the discussion.
This is the 2nd year of our listening tour and we’ve already been to places from Pueblo to the Denver Metro area, and Greeley to Summit County and Grand Junction. At each stop we’ve had 50-100 people. People attending include mental health professionals, family members of people fighting mental illnesses, people with mental health conditions, teachers, members of the law enforcement community, business community, city/county representatives and state lawmakers.
Attendees share their experiences with the mental health care system in the area. Barriers range from not knowing where to start after a diagnosis, to trouble getting care and cost of care. One success story in some areas is the use of telemedicine to have better access to care and counselors. People share other positive points in care going on in their communities as well.
Mental Health Colorado hopes to compile the information from the tour to help make Colorado a national leader in addressing mental health and substance use disorders.
We invite you to join us at this event.
