General Responsibilities:

Tune Shop staff executes the preparation and tuning of equipment for Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (SSCV) alpine, freestyle, freeski, snowboard, ski cross and Nordic athletes on a daily basis to ensure equipment is appropriately set up and tuned for current training or racing conditions.

Position job duties:

  • Sign-in and inspection of incoming equipment for work needed
  • Edge & Wax service using hand tools, Winstersteiger Trim Jet, Wax Pro rollers, and irons
  • Full Tune service using Wintersteiger RS350, Race NC, Trim Jet and hand tools
  • Inspection of outgoing equipment for expected quality level in finished product

Preferred Experience

  • 3-5 years experience working in a Tune Shop environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic principles of ski and snowboard tuning
  • Must have attention to detail and passion for the highest level of quality in finished product
  • Ability to operate ski tuning machines including Wintersteiger RS350 and Trim Jet
  • This position requires the ability to work standing up, to walk between work stations to operate multiple workstations in the Shop space for the entire work shift, to carry equipment within the Shop and to load ski equipment into vehicles
  • Team player with ability to communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and co-workers to provide the highest-quality product

Work Shifts:

  • Monday through Thursday, 1pm to 7pm each day, 5 to 6 hour shift with some flexibility possible
  • Tune Shop is located in the Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy, Maloit Park, Minturn

Position Objectives:

Tune Shop

  • Execution of ski and snowboard preparation and tuning
  • Coordinate with the Equipment Manager for execution of the weekly/monthly Tune Shop resource management strategy
  • Responsible, efficient use of Tune Shop consumables inventory
  • Facilitate the highest level of quality control on all work completed
  • Follow all Tune Shop Expectations, Safety & Best Practices document directives

Elite Tuning Program

  • On-time execution of work for each assigned Elite Tuning Program athlete
  • Weekly strategic evaluation of equipment condition to plan major work proactively surrounding race events and the training schedule

Equipment Logistics

  • Coordinate daily with the Equipment Manager to ensure all required equipment is loaded for transportation to SSCV from Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy, Minturn

Other

  • Coordinate with the SSCV Equipment Manager and Tune Shop staff on all requested operations
  • This position reports directly to SSCV Equipment Manager Brian Eggleton

Compensation

  • wage based on experience
  • unrestricted Season Pass for Vail/Beaver Creek/Keystone/Breckenridge/Arapahoe Basin
