VAIL KIDS ADVENTURE GAMES SOLD OUT, VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Approximately 300 Volunteers Needed Aug. 10-14

for the Coolest Kids’ Race on the Planet

(Vail)-The countdown to the Vail Kids Adventure Games (Kids A.G.), presented by Toyota, is on. In just under a month, Aug. 10-14, children ages six to 14 will race and navigate an adventure course throughout Vail Village and on Vail Mountain that will include mud pits, low ropes course, zip lines, a giant Slope N’ Slide, tubing and more. Adults and kids who don’t want to be left out of the action are being sought to join in as volunteers and help with the various obstacles, course marshaling, transition areas and at the start and finish lines.

Approximately 80-100 volunteers are needed each day to assist with a variety of tasks, which will include helping more than 750 young competitors challenge themselves during the five-day event. “In our seventh year, we’re so appreciative of how the community rallies around this event,” said Vail Kids Adventure Games Director Beth Pappas. “This is the largest event in the eight-race series and we’ve watched it expand over the years. We could not provide such an incredible experience for our racers and their families without the many volunteers that come back annually to watch these kids compete, race and have fun in Vail.”

Volunteers will receive an official event T-shirt, while supplies last, and socks from national sponsor Darn Tough. Local school groups and non-profit organizations who wish to volunteer will receive a financial donation for having no less than 10 people work during the event. Volunteer shifts are as follows:

  • Aug. 10-11, 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Assist with athlete check-in and skills clinics. Shorter shifts are available on these days.
  • Aug. 12-14, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Race day activities including course marshals, timing, athlete check-in, etc. Lunch will be provided for volunteers who sign up for a full shift.

The Vail Kids A.G. originated in Vail seven years ago and now features eight races across the nation. Vail’s race has, once again, been received so enthusiastically that registration for all races and skills clinics are full with wait lists. Entry spots are still available for all ages to participate in the Keen Family Mud Run on Saturday, Aug. 13. The Vail Recreation District provides operational support for Kids Adventure Games LLC during the Vail event.

The Vail Kids A.G. is presented by Toyota in partnership with Horizon Organic, Clif Kid, Darn Tough, Slackers, the Town of Vail, Vail Resorts, KidSport, Vail Valley Medical Center, The Steadman Clinic and Steadman Phillippon Research Institute and numerous Vail Valley businesses.
