The Town of Eagle Board of Trustees announced on Wednesday, May 4, that John Schneiger has been named town manager for Eagle. The announcement comes after a candidate search process that started in January and included a national search, candidate recruitment and selection effort via Moffet Consulting, and rigorous review by a predetermined selection committee made up of four Trustees, three members of Town Staff and an Eagle business leader.
“We spent two days interviewing six extremely qualified applicants with different backgrounds; narrowed our choice to two finalists and, following the executive session on Wednesday, we announced our selection,” said Anne McKibbin, current member of the Town of Eagle Board of Trustees and Mayor. “John has spent most of his career in municipal management and related fields and, as we went through the selection process, we wanted someone who could step into the role and hit the ground running. John has a demonstrated ability to come into a community, take stock of what’s going on and work on the things that need to be improved, while supporting the staff and board of trustees. With the new board being seated and a new manager coming on, we’re on a path towards a bright future in Eagle.”
Schneiger is a local government professional with more than 25 years of experience including roles as City Manager, Economic Developer and Planner, mostly in Colorado. He was instrumental in leading the Western Slope municipalities of Montrose and Fruita through periods of strong economic growth. Most recently, he served as City Manager of New Port Richey, Florida.
“I’m enthused about my new position with the Town of Eagle as I believe that my career experience to date has prepared me well for the position, including both the opportunities and challenges that exist,” Schneiger said. “I look forward to working with the Mayor and Board of Trustees to accomplish desired community goals and become a part of the overall team. I have been impressed with staff’s dedication and desire to implement best practices.”
Schneiger is moving to Eagle this week; his fiancée will join him in the near future from Florida.
“Both Amy and I are very excited about becoming involved in the community and making Eagle our home,” Schneiger said.
