  • Volunteer with The Literacy Project this Spring as a English Language Coach

It’s a whole new ballgame!  The Literacy Project recently hit a homerun with an award for free childcare and classroom space, presented through the Mountain Recreation Community Partnership Grant.  Beginning Thursday, April 20, from 6:15pm – 8:00pm, we will offer a sports-themed, 6-week, adult English language program entitled “Ready, Set, Speak! – English for Recreation” at the Gypsum Rec Center, with dinner included.

With your help, we can knock this new program out of the park.  Are you willing to step up to the plate and go to bat for our community members who have the desire to learn English?  This interactive language program promises to be a fun and rewarding volunteer opportunity.  Language acquisition accelerates when there are native speakers on hand to participate in dialogues and role-playing exercises.  Moreover, if learning Spanish is your jam, you’ll love that we kick off each lesson with a game of bilingual (English/Spanish) vocabulary bingo.  Volunteers are encouraged to participate in all six Thursday evenings from April 20th – May 25th, but are also welcome to help out for a session here and there.  We simply ask that you email us in advance so that we may adjust the meal count.

Accept our challenge and contact Kim Blackford at TheLiteracyProjectKim@evld.org, or call (970) 331-3350 to learn more about being an English language coach this spring!
