CMC Responds: Today, Tomorrow, Together

We are taking action during these difficult times to help our mountain communities through a multi-pronged effort called CMC Responds: Today, Tomorrow, Together. For the summer 2020 semester, the college is waiving tuition, books and fees for new or returning students who qualify as in-district, in-state students who took credit courses in spring 2020, and displaced workers due to COVID-19 public health orders who live in the CMC district.

The CMC Board of Trustees approved the plan to pass along the estimated $1.6 million Colorado Mountain College will receive in federal stimulus dollars as well as internal savings from hiring freezes, elimination of all travel, canceled commencement ceremonies, reductions in energy usage, and revenues realized by exercising 7D, the 2018 ballot measure overwhelmingly approved by local voters authorizing CMC to recoup financial losses triggered by the Gallagher Amendment.

The initiative also includes:

  • Extending (starting in fall 2020) the President’s Scholarship to students who have graduated from local high schools within the past three years and extending the deadline for current high school seniors
  • Donating all available personal protective equipment (PPE) to local hospitals and clinics
  • Making CMC facilities available where they might be needed during this public health crisis
  • Activating the No Barriers Fund in the CMC Foundation to support students facing particular financial hardship that prevents them from staying in school
  • Making tutoring services available to help local parents with home schooling
  • Distributing donated laptops to students who need them
  • Continuing Fund Sueños for students not eligible for Federal Financial Aid
  • Providing internet service to students and families without broadband access
  • Offering complimentary business consulting/training for local businesses affected by the pandemic
  • A special  condensed Introduction to Hospitality Supervision series that starts April 15

Go to College Now – We’re Waiving Summer Tuition, Fees and Books

In-district residents, currently enrolled in-state students, and local employees recently displaced due to public health orders and others will have their tuition, fees, and books waived for summer term 2020.

ESL and GED courses are included, as well as classes for local high school students hoping to earn college credits after a disruptive spring semester. LEARN MORE: SUMMER TUITION ELIGIBILITY & DETAILS
