  • Story of the Month: Edwards-Based Remonov & Co. Offers Rent Abatement and Deferral to Tenants Due to Covid-19

“It’s inspiring to look around and see all of the members of our community doing what they can to help others. We view our role as no different. We want to do what we can to help. As a community, the only way we can get through this is together.”  – Rick Mueller, president of Remonov & Co.

EDWARDS, Colo.-April 14, 2020 – During this time of uncertainty, local development company and commercial landlord Remonov & Co.  (Remonov) is offering rent abatement and rent deferral for all of its commercial tenants in Edwards and Vail. Initially, Remonov reduced tenants’ April 2020 rent payments in an immediate effort to provide help to businesses during the early stages of social distancing and COVID-19 safety protocol implementation. However, in an April 3, 2020 letter to tenants, Remonov announced that it would also “forgive” May 2020 rent and allow tenants to defer June 2020 rent, to be spread out over the remaining six months of the calendar year (July-Dec. 2020).

“It started with our realization that the impact of COVID-19 would come as a hard hit to our tenants, many of whom make a significant portion of their annual incomes during ski season,” said Rick Mueller, president of Remonov & Co.. “As business closures became more widespread and necessary safety protocols more restrictive, our concern and feeling of responsibility to assist our tenants continued to grow. As members of the Eagle County community, there is a sense of obligation to do our part and support those that support us.”

Remonov’s current rent abatement and deferral is extended to all of the company’s tenants which includes 38 Edwards-based businesses (most in Edwards Corner) and three Vail-based businesses. Remonov is further supporting tenants by abiding by Governor Polis’ Orders and continuing regular cleaning and sanitization of spaces to best ensure the health and safety of tenants and the public. Remonov has also started Edwards Corner Instagram and Facebook pages (@thecorneratedwards) where they share the status’ of  and updates on tenants’ businesses and how you can support them during this COVID-19 crisis.

“It’s inspiring to look around and see all of the members of our community doing what they can to help others. We view our role as no different. We want to do what we can to help. As a community, the only way we can get through this is together,” Mueller added.
