Renowned L.A. dance company DIAVOLO was founded in 1992 by Artistic Director Jacques Heim, an inquisitive guy who combined his academic background in theater, film, and dance with a passion for architecture. Thanks to Heim and his talented crew of dancers, designers and engineers, the Company, has garnered praise from audiences around the globe for its ability to display surprising movement against a backdrop of elaborately designed space.

“Defying gravity doesn’t just look easy. It feels like the human spirit, ever enduring,” writes the Los Angeles Times.

Expect to see elaborate, somewhat shocking structures on stage with dancers — a moon, a giant wheel and an enormous boat, for instance. Discovery and destination are the focus for the Beaver Creek show, which will showcase the brand new “Voyage,” an ode to the 50th Anniversary of the first moon landing, and signature piece “Trajectoire,” a piece that celebrates women.

“The two pieces connect well together because it is impossible to find a new destination without discovery,” Helm said.

Take a journey with DIAVOLO at the Vilar Performing Arts Center on March 25.
