VAIL, Colo.—April 26, 2019—Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail, in the midst of an unparalleled, phased enhancement project, is embracing sustainability and donating sofas, dining tables and chairs, artwork, stone top vanities, coffee tables, leather arm chairs and more to the Habitat ReStore Vail Valley.

“We’re in the midst of an extensive refresh and remodel of Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail,” said Kurt Krieg, vice president of development for Extell Development Company, owner of Vail’s Four Seasons. “We realized that there would be a substantial volume of furniture and fixtures that could be donated as this year alone we are remodeling more than 30 hotel rooms on three floors, three specialty suites and six private residences. Wanting to embrace the Town of Vail’s mission of sustainability, we decided to donate the furniture to Habitat for Humanity so that it can be reused and repurposed.”

When an item is donated to the Habitat ReStore, the fundraising arm of Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley, it is recycled to a new owner and kept out of the landfill. Additionally, revenue generated from sales at the ReStore is used to build Habitat homes in partnership with Eagle County families. Since 2005, Habitat ReStore has contributed more than $1 million in funds to support the home building efforts of Habitat for Humanity in Eagle County.

The sheer volume of the donation is exciting and the timing is perfect, too. Rather than a one-and-done situation, there will be a continuous flow of donations over several months. Additional items to be donated over the coming months include unique pieces from multiple residences, two floors of hotel rooms and restaurant and lobby furniture. This steady stream of donations coming into the store will encourage ReStore shoppers to return again and again to see what’s new.

“We rely heavily on the generosity of donors like Extell Development and Four Seasons,” said John Welaj, executive director of Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley. “Large scale donations to the ReStore make a significant impact to our bottom line and to our ability to create meaningful change in our community.”

“At Four Seasons, we believe it’s most important to connect with the people and world around us,” said Meredith Macfarlane, general manager of Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail. “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to partner with Extell in order to provide this significant donation through Habitat for Humanity to our local community here in the Vail Valley.”

All items are available for purchase now at the Habitat ReStore in Eagle, located at 751 Chambers Avenue in Eagle and is open Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
