  • The Town of Avon and Donahue Entertainment Present Tenth Mountain Storytellers, August 18-19, 2017, at the Avon Performance Pavilion

Avon, CO – The Town of Avon is proud to partner with Nashville-based event production company Donahue Entertainment to welcome the debut of the Tenth Mountain Storytellers August 18-19, 2017, at the Avon Performance Pavilion at Harry A. Nottingham Park. The Town of Avon and Donahue Entertainment have worked collaboratively over the past year on finding a special event to diversify the creative and cultural events being offered at the Avon Performance Pavilion.

Storytelling is a rapidly growing art form on the festival circuit, with thousands gathering in the East Tennessee Smoky Mountains, the rugged outdoors of Utah and the California coast. Avon is the perfect gathering place for storytellers from across the nation to coalesce at the end of the summer. Tenth Mountain will give you the ability to simply kick back on a picnic blanket and be entertained or to dive deeper into storytelling by having national award winning storytellers help you with tips to craft your own story. Harry A. Nottingham Park will come alive with creativity.

“It has been a joy to work with the Town of Avon leadership to land on just the right idea for the beautiful setting,” says Don Donahue, of Nashville based Donahue Entertainment. “Partnering with storytelling groups like Spark Off Rose from Hollywood, to individual storytellers affiliated with The Moth, as well as Boulder Colorado, based Truth Be Told, I am confident we’ve landed on a signature event to set Avon apart for innovation and creativity with their events.”

The Town of Avon is excited to host Grammy and Tony award winning writers on the picturesque Avon Performance Pavilion stage in August. “The inaugural year of Tenth Mountain Storytellers brings a unique, enriching and spirited cultural gathering,” said Avon Mayor Jennie Fancher. “Renowned storytellers from around the country will gather in our little mountain town to share their stories and their craft. We are hopeful that this will become an annual event that continues to grow as the art of storytelling gains traction across the mainstream media.”

Truth Be Told founders Nina Rolle and Johanna Walker had this to say about lending their talents to the inaugural Tenth Mountain Storytellers event, “We know there are lots of storytellers and storytelling organizations around the country. What a delight to get to be part of a new storyteller’s event in our home state that brings so many of us together. We humans really do connect through our stories, and Avon’s setting gives us a great opportunity for us to do just that!”

The event kicks off Friday evening, with a VIP cocktail reception with the roster of talent, and dinner on the Avon Event Terrace, and continues at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning with storytelling events and breakout sessions the entire day. Saturday culminates with the Truth Be Told Story Slam at 6:00 p.m., when the audience is invited to tell their stories, followed by an evening of stories and songs with Grammy Award winning songwriters and storytellers entertaining us under the stars.

Confirmed Storytellers: Wayne Kirkpatrick (Grammy Award Winning Songwriter), Karey Kirkpatrick (Screenwriter and Playwright who along with brother Wayne wrote 10x Tony Nominated Broadway Smash Something Rotten), Jessica Tuck, Johanna Walker, Nina Rolle, Shelagh Ratner, Amelia Earhart (9 News Denver), Tricia Rose Burt. Also joining are Colorado based award winning Tellers Matthew Taylor, Jeremy Leonard, Rachel Ann Harding, Cooper Braun, Jason Berkowitz, Nancy Norton and more being added every week!
