Proposed Workforce Housing projects in the works

Vail Valley workforce housing advocates,

Thank you for your continued support of appropriate workforce housing developments in Eagle County. A few notes & action items:

1. Please join our Workforce Housing Coalition group on Facebook. This group is designed to provide an online forum to discuss and share workforce housing developments and ideas.

2. West 6 Apartments – proposed apartments in Edwards

1. Proposed 120-unit apartment complex
2. Public meetings scheduled:
   1. Planning Commission – September 6, 3:30
   2. Board of County Commissioners – Sept. 19, 1:30 pm
3. Action Items:
   1. Send letters of support to comdev@eaglecounty.us before September 6, and to eagleadmin@eaglecounty.us prior to September 17.

3. Vail Resorts – East Vail parcel

1. Proposed re-zoning – there is a concerted effort to oppose the rezoning of this parcel from residential (duplex) to employee housing and open space

2. Public meetings scheduled:
   1. Planning commission, September 11, 1:30pm (estimated)
   2. Town Council, September 19, evening (time TBD)
3. Action Items:
   1. Send letters of support to commdev@vailgov.com and towncouncil@vailgov.com
   2. Show up to the planning commission meeting, and the town council meeting.
   3. Share with your networks and encourage them to write letters to the editor (or send to Krista Driscoll kdriscoll@vaildaily.com), planning commission, town council, and to show up at meetings to have their voice heard.

Note there is a concerted effort to prevent and oppose any rezoning of this privately held property. This is UNDEVELOPED, PRIVATE LAND ALREADY ZONED RESIDENTIAL. This is not open space. If not here, WHERE???? Opponents are truly saying, “no more housing in Vail”.

There is currently positive momentum in Eagle County for appropriate development. Please make your voice heard; our elected officials and appointed boards need to hear from supporters of appropriate and thoughtful development to help balance the well-organized, vocal opponents to any new development.
