Walking Mountains’ Summer Science Camps allow children to experience the wild places of the Eagle Valley while nurturing their connection to the natural world through daily exploration of local trails. Campers investigate principles of ecology and develop an understanding of scientific concepts through fun, adventure, experiments, and exploration. Sessions are age-appropriate and taught by qualified natural science educators that make learning safe and fun.

We love that Walking Mountains teaches environmental stewardship. We also love that it gets our kid outside and away from electronics. And our child loves the programs!”- Parent of 2016 Summer Science Camp participant.

WEEK LONG DAY CAMPS

Walking Mountains offers week-long day camps for children entering 1st-8th grade. Campers entering 1st and 2nd can respond to the Call of the Wild, dig into the past with Dino Detectives, get grounded with Creep and Crawl, and more! 3rd and 4th graders can get wise to some nocturnal fliers with Owlsome Ornithologists, test the waters as Watershed Warriors, get ready to rock with Rock Hounds, and tinker with their own creative abilities in STEM Discovery: Are You an Inventor? Your 5th and 6th grade explorers will be jacks of all trades in Adventure Seekers, find some natural inspiration in STEM Discovery: Biomimicry, and get their (proverbial) feet wet with ExSTREAM Team. STEM Discovery: Underwater Robots will give your 7th or 8th grader the chance to build their own underwater robot and explore aquatic environments all over the Eagle Valley.

SINGLE DAY CAMPS

Walking Mountains single-day camps, called Earth Explorers, are a great opportunity for children entering Kindergarten-2nd grades.  With a new topic each week and a new focus each day, your little one can attend as many or few of the camps as they like. Topics include Mini Monets, Super Scientists, and Wild and Wacky Weather.  Activities will be different for each day, but will include hiking, crafts, and cool experiments.

OVERNIGHT CAMPS

Based out of the 10th Mountain Division our overnight camps are designed for campers entering 3rd-12th grades. The camps will immerse your child in their local environment and send them on adventures that would make pioneers proud! For 3rd and 4th graders, Mountain Quest is a smorgasbord of backcountry adventures, and A Brush With Nature is perfect for creative naturalists who want to combine the outdoors, nature and art! 5th and 6th grade campers can master the backcountry with Wilderness Challenge or follow in the Lorax’s steps with Unless We Speak for the Trees. Your 7th or 8th graders will realize their potential with Leadership Bootcamp or learn about repurposing and recycling with Repurposing Revolution. 9th-12th graders will gain a greater understanding of the Colorado backcountry experience and history as they summit peaks, hike from hut to hut, and stargaze from mountaintops in our new camp GO West!

Space is limited, so mark your calendars and get your child’s summer planned. To learn more, register or apply for a scholarship visit www.walkingmountains.org./camps.
