“Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more!” – The Grinch

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail is holding its 4th annual unveiling of WhoVail, the life-sized Dr. Seuss Whoville-inspired gingerbread house, on Friday, December 9th at 4pm.

The 140-square-foot structure built in-house by the Resort’s master carpenter Frank Bontempo, resides in the alcove off the valet, providing easy access for all to enjoy and see.

WhoVail is made with over 2,150 gingerbread tiles and 360 pounds of zero fondant. 11 elves assisted with the creation of the structure, totaling in over 200 hours – a labor of love.

The façade of the house is decked out with the gingerbread tiles decorated by over 50 children from Red Sandstone School, the local public school in the Vail Valley. And thanks to their creative efforts, this year’s gingerbread house is bigger, better (and more colorful) than ever!

Inside the festive structure will again boast a fireplace and hearth adorned with cookies as well as ten hidden themed cookies this year. Executive Pastry Chef Andrew Schweska has hidden a Flame cow, candy cane, Santa Claus, snowman, Grinch and more for children to seek out while enjoying time in and around WhoVail.

The Town of Vail anxiously anticipates the unveiling every year, as they consider proclaiming December 9th as the official “WhoVail Day.”

Join the Grinch, a few elves and the Resort’s General Manager Brent Martin on Friday, December 9th at 4pm to kick-off the holiday season. Enjoy Christmas carols by the Vail Mountain School choir and complimentary green eggnog, cider and cookies.
