EDWARDS, Colo.—August 19, 2016—It’s time to put on your western garb, gather the family and head to the Cordillera Equestrian Center for an afternoon of demonstrations, games and fun during Cordillera’s Horsin’ Around Day on Saturday, August 27 from 3 – 6:30 p.m. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

The show starts with demonstrations of five different equestrian disciplines on nine different breeds from dressage to vaulting, jumping to horsemanship, complete with appropriate ensembles for the riders. After the show, guests can hop on a horse and receive a free lesson from a professional instructor, take a pony ride or get the kids to join in the stick-horse race and the scavenger hunt. Corn hole toss, ladder golf and a calf-roping machine will provide even more friendly competition.

“The Cordillera Equestrian Center is a one-of-a-kind facility in the valley,” said Rachel Oys, general manager of Cordillera. “Anyone who is interested in equestrian pursuits or simply loves horses will have a memorable afternoon at Cordillera. We’re looking forward to showcasing our riders, trainers and these magnificent animals.”

In addition to the horse show and games, Mountain Valley Horse Rescue will bring “Rusty,” their kid-decorated trailer, to display tack for sale and will host a raffle with some fantastic prizes; tickets are $5 each. All proceeds from the tack sale and raffle support the Mountain Valley Horse Rescue.

TimberHearth will be offering food and beverage deals. No outside food or beverages are permitted. Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome; please leave coolers and dogs at home.
