Troon Golf to Manage the Short Course at Cordillera

EDWARDS, Colo.—May 16, 2016—Troon, the largest third party golf management company in the world and managers of The Club at Cordillera, since 2013 has been chosen by the Cordillera Property Owners Association (CPOA), to manage the storied Short Course at Cordillera, CPOA General Manager Rachel Oys announced today. The CPOA owns the Short Course, but contracts administration to outside golf course managers.

“This is an exciting partnership for us,” Oys said. “Not only will it provide efficiencies and a level of consistency for all four golf courses in Cordillera, but it also further unifies the overall community. Troon is internationally known for its level of expertise and experience and we are excited for them to manage the Short Course.”

Open to the public and designed by Dave Pelz, the Short Course is one of two in the world. Each hole is less than 200 yards, but features challenging shots and tight bunkering. The ten-hole course lies high on The Divide at Cordillera, providing fabulous views of the Vail Valley.

“Playing the Short Course is an exceptional golf experience,” said Mike Henritze, general manager of The Club at Cordillera and now the Short Course. “It’s sophisticated enough for serious players who wish to develop a stronger short game, while providing a fun, relaxed golf experience for every ability level. We are pleased to take over operations of this great asset at Cordillera. Golfer’s can expect the same level of professionalism and attention to detail that Troon is known for worldwide.”

Jack LoBiondo, director of golf at The Club at Cordillera and the Short Course, has already planned programming for the 2016 golf season. There will be short game clinics every week throughout the summer including ladies’ “Short & Sweet” clinics and junior clinics.

“Having the Short Course under our management is really going to be fun,” LoBiondo said. “It’s so different from what we already manage here that it opens up a whole new level of service and amenities for residents, club members and the general public. Dave Pelz, who is a well-known short game coach and the course designer, will also be conducting his short game school here in August. For those who want to sharpen their short game, it’s a can’t miss.”

“Troon Management will add a level of quality that is in keeping with that set at all three of our courses at Cordillera,” Henritze said. “The Short Course is a magnificent asset for this community. The quality of the demo equipment, the shop merchandise in the pro shop and the instruction will be in keeping with Troon’s commitment to excellence.” In addition to the fully stocked pro shop, the Short Course’s accompanying restaurant, Grouse on the Green, will be open for the public to enjoy. The restaurant will be managed by The Lodge & Spa at Cordillera a will offer a Celtic-inspired menu for its diners.
