Late last week (end of February), Colorado Families for a Fair Wage filed two constitutional ballot initiatives for the November 2016 ballot to increase the state minimum wage (currently $8.31/hour). The initiatives are identical with the exception that 101 adjusts the wage annually for a cost of living increase as measured by the CPI while 102 adjusts for inflation.
Ballot Initiative 101
- Increases the state minimum wage to $9.30/hour effective January 2017.
- Increases the minimum wage annually thereafter by $0.90 each January 1st until it reaches $12/hour effective January 2020 and thereafter it shall be adjusted annually for a cost of living increase as measured by the Consumer Price Index for Colorado.
- No more than $3.02/hour in tip income may be used to offset the minimum wage of employees who regularly receive tips.
Ballot Initiative 102
- Increases the state minimum wage to $9.30/hour effective January 2017.
- Increases the minimum wage annually thereafter by $0.90 each January 1st until it reaches $12/hour effective January 2020 and thereafter it shall be adjusted annually for inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index for Colorado.
- No more than $3.02/hour in tip income may be used to offset the minimum wage of employees who regularly receive tips.
