The Vail Recreation District is pleased to announce the appointment of Jessie Klehfoth to the position of Director of Marketing and Communications. Bringing an extensive knowledge of digital media and an innovative storytelling perspective to her new role, Klehfoth will oversee the communications, public relations and marketing initiatives for the VRD.
“I’m eager to begin this new phase in my career at one of Vail’s most respected organizations,” says Klehfoth. “I am excited to work with the team to bring fresh ideas true to the spirit of the VRD and Vail, and to showcase the amazing events and facilities of the VRD to locals and guests beginning this fall.”
Responsible for marketing the Vail Golf Club, Vail Tennis Center, Vail Gymnastics Center, Dobson Ice Arena, youth services, Vail sports leagues and more, Klehfoth is especially looking forward to trying out the new AcroYoga class in the Community Programming center and to the opening of the Vail Nordic Center this month.
Most recently, Klehfoth served as the marketing manager for Beaver Creek Resort Hospitality. A Wisconsin native, Klehfoth earned her degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in journalism, communication arts and Spanish. Lured by the call of the mountains, she moved to Colorado where her past experience includes working as the internet specialist for Colorado Mountain News Media and starting a graphic design and web development marketing firm to serve local businesses and non-profits. She also pioneered the web editor position at the Greeley Tribune in Greeley, Colo., where she began her communications career.
“We are delighted to welcome Jessie on board,” says Executive Director Mike Ortiz. “Her outstanding and unique skill set will help the VRD continue to grow and provide outstanding recreational experiences for Vail’s residents, guests and workforce. We are thrilled to have her as a part of our family.”
Outside of the office, Klehfoth is an avid skier and hiker and currently serves as the treasurer and co-founder of the Flying Eagle Disc Society, Eagle County’s local disc golf club. She is very passionate about sports and recreation and is thrilled for the opportunity to share this love with the Vail Valley community through her new role.
