Art in Public Places (AIPP) is pleased to announce our signature winter events including the Vail Paper Lantern Project, the Logan Ice Theater at the Ninth Annual Winterfest presented with Triumph Partners and the Wednesday Art Walks.
Vail’s Paper Lantern Project at the Vail Holidaze Tree Lighting
For a third year, the Vail Paper Lantern Project sponsored by Doe Browning is celebrated at the Vail Holidaze tree lighting on December 20 at 5:00 p.m. Hot chocolate, music, entertainment, illuminated paper lanterns and the tree lighting will all take place in Slifer Square by the Covered Bridge in Vail Village. Back by popular demand, a community lantern walk in Vail Village will be led by Santa immediately following the tree lighting. New this year, prizes will be awarded to various age groups for most creative and unique paper lanterns at the tree lighting.
Vail’s Paper Lantern Project invites residents and guests to come together as a community to share holiday spirit and goodwill during this magical time of year. You may build your own paper lantern or participate in a workshop, so you can join the illumination festivities in Vail Village on December 20. Like many other paper lantern festivals around the world, AIPP hopes that Vail’s Paper Lantern Project will continue to grow to become a beloved tradition.

December 21 – The Logan Ice Theater at the Ninth Annual Winterfest presented with Triumph Partners
The coolest outdoor ice theater returns to Vail this winter. Conceived and introduced by AIPP during the 2012-2013 winter season to celebrate Vail’s 50th anniversary, the Logan Ice Theater will feature film projection on ice on the Gore Creek Promenade. Inspired by summertime outdoor cinemas, Art in Public Places will once again create a free and family friendly cinematic experience in ice. Projections will include favorite holiday cartoons, footage from Warren Miller athlete Chris Anthony, and videography of Vail Mountain by Vail Resorts. Projection begins daily once the sun goes down and will be on view until the ice melts!
For a fourth year, Vicki and Kent Logan have continued their support of Winterfest alongside Triumph Partners. The Logans are part-time Vail residents who were married on top of Vail Mountain in 1985 and have been dedicated supporters of the arts for many years.
Triumph Partners’ continued support of the visual arts in the Vail Valley is exemplified through their charitable donations to Art in Public Places to enable this popular free and family friendly outdoor snow and ice sculpture exhibition to continue through 2016.
Founded in 2002 by partners Steve Virostek and James Fangmeyer, Triumph Partners has offices in Vail and Bethesda, Md. Initially focused on real estate development, Triumph Partners has expanded its operations and scope of services through its three companies to include architectural design, real estate brokerage, property management, and luxury vacation home rentals. The company’s diversified growth in Vail and into other mountain resort communities makes it a driving force in the Colorado mountain real estate market.
