THE VILAR PERFORMING ARTS CENTER PRESENTS

ASPEN SANTA FE BALLET

Aspen Santa Fe Ballet’s bold vision – top global choreographers, distinctive groundbreaking works, and virtuoso dancers – has fostered a jewel of a dance company in the American West. The company’s pioneering spirit arises from a dual set of home cities: Aspen, nestled in the Rocky Mountains, and Santa Fe, gracing the Southwestern plateau. Shaping the cultural landscape of these communities – and influencing the dance field at large – is a contemporary ballet company now nearly two decades old. Tickets to Aspen Santa Fe Ballet are $58 adult/ $30 student (18 & under) and are on sale now at the VPAC Box Office (970.845.8497)/www.vilarpac.org. The VPAC is located under the ice rink in Beaver Creek Village (68 Avondale Lane, Beaver Creek, Colorado).

Aspen Santa Fe Ballet’s repertoire, ranging from accessible to sophisticated, resonates with energy and eclecticism. The company will perform the pieces: Over Glow by Jorma Elo with music by Felix Mendelssohn and Ludwig van Beethoven, Beautiful Mistake by Cayetano Soto with music by Olafur Arnalds, Charles Wilson and The Heart(s)pace by Nicolo Fonte with music by Ezio Bosso.

One of the best regional dance companies in the U.S.A., Aspen Santa Fe Ballet’s identity is tethered to its repertoire, which speaks a complex language, challenges audiences, and advances the art form. ASFB, since its inception, has been deeply committed to commissioning new works. Of the 28 ballets created since 1996, many are by world-leading choreographers whose important first assignments came from ASFB. Many ballets have gone on to grace the repertories of renowned global dance companies.
