George Shaeffer Construction Company, Vail’s premier custom homebuilder, has announced a new name for their firm: Shaeffer Hyde Construction.
The name change coincides with the company’s 35th anniversary; it acknowledges the partnership and leadership of David Hyde, president of the firm. A U.S. Green Building Council LEED-Accredited Professional, Hyde has a vast knowledge of the latest building products and techniques. He earned his B.S. in Science and Construction Management at the University of Florida and has over 19 years of building experience.
“What is most exciting is the strong partnership David and I have formed and how the entire company has gotten behind this transition,” said George Shaeffer, “Our values are aligned. Even as our vision evolves, it continues to honor Shaeffer traditions.”
A 35-Year History
George Shaeffer founded the company in 1979 when Vail was just taking off. His company grew alongside the community, establishing relationships with local architects, building a reputation for excellence in home construction and adding to a portfolio of award-winning residences in the Vail area and throughout Colorado.
Hyde joined the ownership team in 2007, serving as president and managing the day-to-day operations. He successfully steered the company through the economic downturn, introducing technology that streamlines cost modeling and catalogs the details of every building project. He continues to move the company forward, helping design teams and clients navigate sustainable design and construction practices.
The firm also has been involved in the build-out of multi-tenant residences and commercial properties such as the Northside Cafe in Avon.
At the company’s 35th anniversary event, Shaeffer recounted the early days of the firm, while Hyde counted the company’s achievements. “This is a celebration of what we’ve built together,” said Shaeffer to gathered employees, families and friends.
Renovations and Property Care
In addition to new construction projects, Shaeffer Hyde Construction specializes in renovations to update, personalize and add value to existing properties.
“New home sites are numbered in Vail,” says Hyde, “but there is an increasing demand for remodels. We collaborate closely with clients, helping them explore renovation opportunities that reflect their lifestyle.”
Shaeffer Hyde homeowners also have access to the Property Care department. This team surveys a home’s performance each season, providing routine maintenance that keeps the home in pristine condition and ensures it performs as designed well into the future.
Building Trust
Shaeffer Hyde Construction consults with clients and design teams before concepts are drawn. The firm’s extensive knowledge about building in mountain areas enables them to advise on site selection, construction schedules and building materials that positively impact project budgets. Their approach is comprehensive and collaborative; it balances individual priorities with creative solutions.
“Custom home projects are complex,” says Shaeffer. “Our partnership with outstanding design and trade professionals has been a foundation of our success.”
“Shaeffer Hyde continues to stand proudly behind every home we build,” notes Hyde. “Our name has changed, but our commitment to building remarkable homes is unwavering.”
