Vail Valley Partnership- the Chamber & Tourism Bureau (VVP) today announced that in collaboration with various local experts, it will host a seminar dedicated to the topic of surviving wage and hour audits. Historically, the Department of Labor (DOL) has imposed fines on local Vail Valley businesses – this event aims to help businesses avoid massive fines, penalties and back pay awards.
Local experts, Chris Moffett, HR Consultant, Peter Rudy, Vail Valley Employment Lawyer and Managing Attorney of RUDY LAW LLC, and Nicole Greener, HR Director for East West Resorts and the Westin Riverfront Hotel will be presenting the educational program. Attendees can expect information on what they can do to be prepared for DOL audits, how to ensure employees are paid fairly and techniques that could save a business money. This seminar is geared toward all business owners, top level managers, as well as human resources directors.
“This is the ‘nuts and bolts’ program will tell you exactly what the DOL will be asking, looking for and how to prepare now. We will explain not only the regulations, but how you can comply with them, and some cool legal loopholes to save money doing it,” said Peter Rudy.
Rudy iterates that after the program, attendees will know exactly where they stand, fall short and what they need to do and when the DOL comes back, businesses will have no excuses for not complying with the law.
The event will be held on Wednesday, November 14 at the Vail Chophouse from 3-5 pm before the Partnership’s monthly After-Hours Business Mixer, which will be from 5-7 pm. The seminar is offered entirely free, but attendees must RSVP in advance to Jennifer Weintraub at 970-477-4001.
