  • Vail Vitality Center Encourages Locals to ‘Lighten Up’ with New Program Promoting Whole Health

With age comes wisdom, but getting older certainly doesn’t make staying fit any easier. And, the constant struggle to attain or even maintain optimal health can become both daunting and discouraging, regardless of age, gender or medical history. In an effort to help clients discover their best selves, Dr. Lisa Muncy, inspired by the expertise of the professionals and fitness experts at Vail Vitality Center, has developed a unique program called “Lighten Up in Vail,” which debuts this fall.

Going beyond dieting or counting calories, Lighten Up aims to change the way each individual approaches wellness, allowing participants to take control of their personal health. The result is a renewed sense of self, incorporating a healthy mind, body and spirit.

“We’ve discussed a program of this kind for years and we now have the perfect support team in place to administer this life-changing opportunity,” said Lisa DeKoster, programming coordinator at Vail Vitality Center. “This is about much more than weight loss; it is a shift in philosophy. This program will encourage participants to look at health from an entirely new perspective and each individual will walk away truly able to continue living their best life, on their own.”

The program arms participants with:

  • A better understanding of how thoughts create reality, good or bad

  • Information about the most nutrient dense food to support health

  • A personalized exercise prescription to increase strength and flexibility

  • An understanding of sound medical principles for managing weight

  • Practical methods for revving up the metabolism

  • A personalized nutrition plan detailing when and how to eat for optimal energy

  • Training secrets, such as interval cardio sessions, that help increase success rate

  • Information about the effects of hormones on weight
  • Vail Vitality Center is offering a Lighten Up pilot program at 50 percent off as part of its inaugural six-week workshop, from October 9 to November 13. The cost for Vail Vitality Center members is $350 and the cost for non-members is $450, which includes membership for the duration of the program. Vail Vitality Center’s Lighten Up program features a six-week transformation itinerary, including comprehensive pre-program testing to provide a health baseline, goal setting, weekly support sessions, educational and interactive lectures and presentations, nutrition guidance and an eating plan, an exercise prescription and fitness coaching, tips and tricks from staff experts, journaling support, and a plan for long-term, self-directed wellness based upon the teachings throughout the six weeks of the program.

“We encourage anyone who wants to feel their best – physically, mentally and emotionally – to give this program a try,” added DeKoster. “We’ll never again be able to offer Lighten Up at such a reduced rate and we know the results will be astounding.”
