  • Slifer Designs Founder Selected for 2013 Colorado Business Hall of Fame

Beth Slifer, founder and CEO of Slifer Designs, an award-winning interior design and retail home furnishings company with locations in the Vail Valley and Denver’s Cherry Creek Shopping Center, was recently selected as a 2013 inductee into the Colorado Business Hall of Fame.

Slifer’s selection was part of a combined honor that included spouse Rod Slifer. They were mutually selected and recognized for their business and community leadership and roles in evolving the Vail Valley into a year round tourism destination and business community over the past 50 years. Members of the Hall of Fame represent Colorado’s most distinguished business leaders from the past and present.

In addition to her role in starting and growing Slifer Designs over the past 28 years, Slifer spent the past decade in a leadership role helping market the Vail Valley. In 2008 she received Colorado Governor’s Award for Outstanding Colorado Tourism Effort, and in 2009, was named Citizen of the Year by the Vail Valley Foundation. Over the years Slifer has volunteered for several community boards and non-profit organizations in addition to funding projects that benefit the educational, economic and cultural programs. She currently serves on the University of Colorado Hospital Board of Directors and the University of Colorado Depression Center Board of Directors.

Spouse Rod Slifer’s recognition included being the first-ever Realtor in Vail and his role in Vail’s evolution from ski area to year round mega-resort. The three-time Mayor of Vail is also founder and principal of Slifer Smith & Frampton Real Estate, the Vail Valley’s largest and most prolific brokerage firm. He is also founding director of Alpine Banks of Colorado, director of Colorado Open Lands and the Vail Valley Foundation, and one of the founders of the University of Colorado Real Estate Center and Real Estate Foundation.

“The combined honor with Rod make this all the more special,” said Slifer. “It’s been incredibly rewarding to be part of Vail’s growth and evolution and to have had the opportunity to work with so many talented and passionate people and organizations. It’s truly an honor that we share with everyone who has supported us over the years,” Slifer added.
